Tool of The Week: Gamma

You Don't Have To Spend Three Hours on a Presentation in 2026

FIRST OF ALL - INTRODUCTION

Almost everyone has had that one Sunday night fever where Monday morning is staring at you like a landlord you’re owing rent, and you have a presentation due by 8:00 AM.

You open PowerPoint or Google Slides and stare at the blank white screen. You spend forty minutes picking a template and another twenty arguing with a text box that just won’t align. By midnight, you have three slides that look just okay, but your brain is fried and the actual content is still missing.

In 2026, ABEG, we shouldn’t be fighting with slides, and that is exactly the premise on which Gamma is built.

GAMMA - THE OBIOMA OF PRESENTATIONS

Think of Gamma as an AI-powered tailor for your ideas.

Usually, when you want to sew a sharp native for your owambe, you don't need to know how to operate an industrial sewing machine or cut the material. You just bring the raw fabric, maybe show the tailor a picture of what you saw on Instagram, and the man handles the rest.

Gamma works exactly like that. With it, you don't need to be a design guru that knows all the hex codes. All it asks is for you to bring the idea. It handles the structure, the design, the layout, the images, everything, freeing you up to actually think.

I put it to the test, but before we look at the process, you should know that Gamma is a versatile workshop. It can create:

  • Webpages: Professional-looking sites in seconds.

  • Documents: Reports that people actually want to read.

  • Social Posts: Quick, punchy content for your feed.

  • Image Generation: It even creates visuals for you on the fly.

But this piece focuses strictly on its Presentation capabilities. Because sometimes, that’s where the tear-wear happens in our professional and academic lives.

FOUR WAYS TO CREATE ON GAMMA

When you land on the dashboard — which feels familiar if you have used Canva before — you click Create New and get four entry points:

  1. Generate from a prompt — Typically, Gamma needs only one line to build what you want. I told it: "Create a visually striking presentation about personal branding for ambitious Nigerian Gen Z students"—and in three minutes, I had a full deck.

  1. Paste in text — This is the saviour move. If you have messy notes from a lecture or a long-winded document from a meeting, just paste it. Gamma will iron it out into slides.

  1. Start from a template — This option allows you to use existing structures and layouts if you want a head start on the format.

  1. Import a file or URL — This is one of the more powerful entry points. Upload a PDF, a course material, a report, or paste in a link to a webpage, and Gamma creates a presentation from it.This means you are transforming something that already exists, not just starting from scratch.

HOW IT ACTUALLY WORKS — STEP BY STEP

Step 1: Go to gamma.app and sign up free. Use your Google account. The dashboard loads immediately.

Step 2: Click Create New and choose your entry point. For first-timers, start with Generate: type a one-line prompt describing your presentation topic and audience.

Step 3: Choose what you want to create. Select Presentation. (Don't go and select ‘Webpage’ by mistake and start wondering where the slides are!)

Step 4 (The Sweet Part): Set your preferences. You can choose the number of slides and the design mode. Koda (in fact)! It has Yoruba, Igbo, and Hausa as language options. For my people teaching in local contexts, this is a game-changer.

Step 5: Gamma generates an outline first. This is where you play the oga. Don't just click ‘Next.’ Look at the structure. If it’s missing a point, add it. It's like checking your aso ebi measurements before the tailor starts cutting.

Step 6: Click generate and watch it work. The full deck appears in less than five minutes..

Step 7 (Edit and refine): Click any slide to edit it directly. On the right panel, an AI chat interface lets you give instructions: simplify the language, change the tone, expand a section, swap an image. I asked it to simplify the language on a few slides — it was too jargon-heavy for the audience I had in mind — and it adjusted immediately.

Step 8 (Change the design theme): The theme library is accessible from the top menu. Switching themes is one click and there is enough variety to find something that fits your context.

Step 9 (Share or export): Presentations live online and can be shared with a link. Export options include PDF and PowerPoint. These are useful if you need to send a file rather than a link

WHO THIS THING HELP?

  1. Students: Gamma can turn your lecture notes or textbook chapters into a structured visual presentation in under a minute. Use the paste or file import option, set the language to whatever works for your objective, and let it do the heavy lifting. You still need to review and refine, but the blank page problem disappears entirely.

  2. Teachers and Educators: Upload your lesson materials or type a one-line topic and Gamma builds a teaching aid you can use in class the same day. The language setting is particularly useful here; you fit use Yoruba, Igbo, or Hausa, depending on your need. This opens up possibilities for educators working in local languages. For anyone running workshops or training sessions, the speed alone makes it worth knowing about.

  3. Business Owners and Professionals: Client update, internal report, quick pitch — anything that needs to look clean without requiring two hours of formatting work. E dey do am sharp sharp!

  4. Writers and Content Creators Turn an article or a content strategy document into a visual presentation. It can be useful for pitching ideas to collaborators or repurposing written work into a different format without starting from scratch.

PROs, CONs, AND PRICING

Why You Should Consider Using Nano Gamma

  1. Speed: The speed is the headline feature and it genuinely delivers. It designed a full deck in less than three minutes.

  2. Outline Generation: This step is a pleasant surprise. It asks for your approval beefore it starts designing.

  3. Editability:Being able to edit means you are never stuck with the first output and you don’t have to start over either— ask it to simplify, expand, or adjust tone and it responds immediately.

  4. Inclusivity: The local language support is a huge high-five to us in Africa.

  5. Beginner-friendly: No design experience required whatsoever.

WAIT, Just Before You Jump In… (Shine Ya Eyes)

  1. The Free Plan Is Small: You’re capped at 10 slides and 400 credits. If you want the real heavy-duty features (Studio Mode), you gats open your wallet!

  2. The AI Look: The generated images on the free plan can look a bit cartoonish or like those generic illustrations — not the tool for high-stakes presentations.

  3. Internet is Non-Negotiable: If your data finishes or your network is acting up, tailor don close be that!

  4. Context: It doesn't automatically know you are in Lagos or Nairobi. You must tell it in your prompt, otherwise, it will give you Western examples.

KINI BIG DEAL — THE REAL REASON THIS MATTERS

Everybody — from the final-year UNILAG student to the founder chasing seed raising in Yaba — has a lot to say. We have many bubbling ideas, but have neither the time nor skills to present them visually.

We spend nights fighting with PowerPoint until our eyes are red, only to produce something that looks like it was produced in 2005. That frustration kills the dream before the presentation even starts.

Gamma removes that friction. This isn’t about being lazy; it’s rather about being efficient. Why spend four hours on a layout when you can spend four hours on the strategy instead?

Is it perfect? No. Will it replace a high-end creative director for a $10M brand launch? Not yet. But for the daily hustle —the class presentations, the internal team updates, the I-need-this-now pitches— it comes in very handy.

It gets you from a blank, scary page to a structured, respectable deck in the time it takes to brew a cup of tea. That, my friends, is how you reclaim your time and your sanity.

Don't let a blank page stop a big idea. Give the AI the fabric, let it sew the base, then you come in and add the finishing embroidery that only a human can provide.
