• Reasoning Effort: A new parameter that allows you to control how much time the model spends thinking, saving you time and resources for simpler tasks.

• Vision Inputs: You can now input images to the API, expanding the range of applications you can build in manufacturing, science, and more.

• Improved Function Calling: The o1 model significantly outperforms GPT-4 on function calling, ensuring better performance and accuracy.

• Structured Outputs: Ensure the model’s output adheres to your desired JSON schema, with the new update guaranteeing that the outputs conform 100% to the defined structure.

• Coding Performance: o1 shows significant improvement over previous models on coding evaluations, making it a great choice for developers.

• Faster and Cheaper: o1 uses 60% fewer thinking tokens, making it faster and cheaper to run your applications.

• Real-Time Audio API: Build real-time voice experiences with new WebSocket and WebRTC support, perfect for applications like voice assistants, chat interfaces, and more.

• Microcontroller Support: Build context-aware assistants and other unique IoT applications, and integrate AI into everyday devices using the new python SDK and microcontroller integrations.

• GPT-4o Mini API Support: Use 4o mini audio tokens which will be 10x cheaper than the current price, enabling more accessible AI development and experimentation.

• Preference Fine-Tuning: A new way to tailor models using preference data. Guide models towards more concise and relevant responses by emphasizing preferred behaviours.

• Early Access: Early access to preference fine-tuning was given to several trusted Partners, with great feedback, and the feature will be available for GPT-4o and GPT-4o mini soon.

• New Language Support: New Go and Java SDKs are now available, supporting all the API endpoints that you need to build and experiment with AI.
