Apple Unveils AI Assistant "Apple Intelligence" at WWDC 2024
Collaborates With Open AI
The curtains have finally closed on WWDC 2024, and as expected, Apple's highly-anticipated foray into the world of artificial intelligence took center stage. After years of rivals making headlines with their AI advancements, Apple has unveiled its own system – "Apple Intelligence" – promising to revolutionize how users interact with their iPhones and other Apple devices.
This system will prioritize notifications, offer advanced writing suggestions, and significantly upgrade Siri, Apple's virtual assistant. This move aims to bring AI to the mainstream and potentially address concerns about Apple falling behind competitors like Microsoft. Apple Intelligence focuses on user privacy by processing tasks on iPhones and using a secure cloud network for complex requests. They've also partnered with OpenAI, in a move that has been hinted months ago, to handle situations beyond Apple Intelligence's capabilities by introducing ChatGPT to iOS devices. This collaboration highlights a potential shift in the AI landscape, with tech giants recognizing the value of collaboration for faster development. Overall, Apple Intelligence promises to transform user experience and potentially reshape the competitive landscape of AI. (Read More)

KINI BIG DEAL (Why Does this matter)
Apple’s entry into the AI landscape has been long-awaited and in typical Apple fashion, it’s extraordinary and highly intriguing - it’s only been a couple of hours and Elon Musk is already throwing a fit online. That’s what Apple does (LOL). On a more serious note though, it’s interesting to see how competitive the AI industry is about to get. It has been a ride since two years ago among big names like Open AI, Microsoft, Google, and the likes. Add Apple to that list and we know it’s about to get hotter and hotter than ever.
The most eye-catching part of this announcement is the collaboration between Apple and Open AI. Everyone who knows Apple knows they’re safety-oriented and they wouldn’t compromise that for anything, more so for a rival company in the field (so we get why Elon is angry now, hahaha). It has raised a lot of questions and theories, one of which is the possible recognition of Open AI as impossible to compete with in this landscape. Anyway, we’ll see how this liaison turns out.
For now, what’s important Siri is about to get smarter, iOS users are excited but unfortunately, these features will only be available on Apple’s latest devices. Click here to see the list of all the devices to have these features.
